What can I do to help prevent the signs of aging?
Combating the signs of maturing skin is a concern for everyone that is influenced by lifestyle and daily routine. With prevention as the main objective, we will discuss how to holistically treat your mind, body, and skin as you grow gracefully and beautifully, using Ayurveda practices.

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. It is the science of life and longevity that recognizes every person requires different regimes to heal, and maintain the quality and longevity of one’s life.

Providing guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit.
What causes pre-mature aging: Stress, poor diet and lifestyle!
Our skin is the largest organ in our body, which weighs 8 pounds, on average and tends to show any issues that are present in our body and mind. For example, everyone’s lifestyle has a level of constant stress, which stimulates the production of cortisol. This in return creates free radicals that deplete our skin cells of vital nutrients, which results in premature aging. In addition to stress, anxiety stimulates the production of hormones that remove moisture from the skin. These everyday situations are just two examples that create premature aging in the body.

Each individual has different qualities to their skin that are affected by the seasons, digestion, allergies/sensitivity and stress. It is important to understand the qualities of your body in order the treat it effectively for longevity and health of the body. An important goal of Ayurveda is to identify a person’s ideal state of balance, determine where they are out of balance, and offer interventions using diet, herbs, aromatherapy, massage treatments, music, and meditation to reestablish balance.
Recognizing that human beings are part of nature, Ayurveda uses the 5 elements; earth, water, fire, infinity and air, to represent different skin types. Each of us has a unique proportion of these three forces that shapes our nature:

Dry-Dehydrated: Infinity/Air: A person with more Infinity/Air Nature type qualities will age prematurely due to lack of water and oil qualities of the skin, muscles and bones.

Sensitive:Fire: A person with more Fire Nature qualities will have rosy cheeks but is sensitive to sun as well as can experience rosacea and broken capillaries.

Oily-acne: Water/Earth: A person with more Water-Earth Nature qualities will age slower because of the amount of water and oil qualities in the skin. When imbalanced, they can experience skin congestion and acne.
